CHAPTER 4 Pre-Flight (11)

The day Leroy looked in the mirror was a bright early spring morning. The marching sounds of stomping dance hall music echoed in his bladder as he lay in bed with an erect hangover. Shining brightly over his naked body was a mellow sun that lightened the form of a Zulu warrior preparing to stagger to the bathroom.
"Is that you up their mister," shouted aunt ‘Mo’.
"I said. Heah! You up there! “She sounded disgruntled.  It was most unlikely that it could have been anyone else since the two had practically lived alone since the death of his father.
"Yes mama" replied Leroy in a hoarse hushed frightened tone.  He flushed the closet leaving no trace of forensic evidence as to his chemistry. Only Aunt Mo. knew, she convinced herself. Aunt Mo. stood motionless at the bottom of the stairs like an animal stalking its prey. Her nose pointed at the angle of the banister with impunity. Her eyelids flickered with strobe precision. Aunt Mo.’s sonic radar equipment was stored tightly
in both ears. She waited for a more pronounced emotional tone apart from the "Yes mama" that's all she ever heard, "Yes mama".
This repeated in her ears like some distant echo or pebble dropped in a pool until it diminished without adequate effect. In her motionless state Aunt Mo. picked up another sound to her right from in the front-room-bed sit-living room she had created for herself in her own home to make more space for eventualities.
